Rio Paralympics 2016 - The making of hero's

Gold Winning Belgian paralympian Marieke Vervoort - After London 2012

Over the past couple of years I've had the fortunate pleasure of meeting and photographing some great athletes, from professional triathletes to Olympians, but what has been even more special to me is seeing & documenting the development of some very talented para-athletes who all seemed to have been churning out of Sands Beach Active on Lanzarote - which is starting to resemble a paralympian production factory, churning out champions every four years or so.

Sands Beach Active has been the temporary training home to athletes such as Belgian Marieke Vervoort - who won the silver medal in the T52 200m wheelchair race, setting a European record - She also won the gold medal in the T52 100m wheelchair race.

The British ParaTriathlon Team, with the likes of Lauren Steadman, Joe Townsend, Clare Cunningham, Andy Lewis, Ryan Taylor and Phil Hogg.

And Spanish contenders, Barcelona based Jordi Madera in the 5000m and Marathon and local Lanzarote talent Lionel Morales in the triathlon.

Good luck to all the para-athletes, to both those that have been selected and to those you have trained their socks off and just missed the boat.... Big respect.. now go and do what you do best..

Give it your best ...
