The Making of a World Champion

A massive congratulations to my friend Holly Lawrence, who became the IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion in Mooloolaba, Queensland on Australia's Gold Coast yesterday in a time of 04:09:12.

Coming out of the swim in second place to Lauren Brandon, she pretty much lead the race from the start of the bike, leaving the other athletes, such as IRONMAN World Champ and previous #Ironman70.3 World Champ Daniela Ryf in her wake.

She's come a long way since yesterday's epic win... Having met Holly 4 years ago at the 2012 IRONMAN 70.3 UK, Wimbleball where she came 4th pro in a time of 05:00:04, her achievements in 2013 included finishing 2nd in Ironman 70.3 UK and qualifying for the 5150 Triathlon Series World Championships in the US taking one of the 30 slots and finishing 11th amongst a world class field.

In 2014 she was named the 3rd member of the Welsh Triathlon team for the Commonwealth Games Federation in Glasgow. The team competed in the relay event and came out with bronze.

And with a move to L.A last year she's been on winning form ever since .. Taking the titles in theEscape from Alcatraz TriathlonIRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant and more recently IRONMAN Vineman.
